Media relations case study available to business professionals
(Research Triangle Park, N.C.) Innovative public relations and strategic messaging firm Menzies Consulting, Inc. has published an informative case study on media relations for business professionals looking to enhance their brand and increase market share.
The case study is part of the February 2010 issue of the News You Can Use newsletter published by Menzies Consulting, Inc. to share advice, news, and information about public relations tools and trends. The free newsletter and case study are available by emailing newsletter@strategicmessaging.net.
Following the planning and execution of an educational outreach campaign, the case study details the approach to making subject matter relevant through substantive facts and information contained within core messaging and disseminating that messaging to reporters, securing high-profile media placement in front of target audiences.
The February News You Can Use newsletter also contains an extensive article by company president David D. Menzies on how to avoid the pitfalls associated with industry and media award contests. Often providing solid opportunities for third-party validation of a company's industry expertise, too many award contests are now focusing solely on building their own prospect lists and diluting the marketplace with shoddy events that can damage a participant's brand.

Menzies Consulting Hosting "Facebook Fridays" Seminars in April
(Apex, N.C.) Strategic messaging and online publishing firm Menzies Consulting, Inc. will be hosting "Facebook Fridays" seminars throughout April to provide live, interactive Q&A on the basics of good public and media relations.
Veteran communicator David D. Menzies, company president, will be available to take questions from members of the business community between 10-11 a.m. on April 3, 10, 17 and 24 on the Menzies Consulting, Inc. Facebook page.
"There are so many good stories out there in the business community, in North Carolina and across the country, but in many cases a business with a great story doesn't know how to tell it so nobody hears about it," Menzies said.
The types of questions Menzies said he usually gets from PR novices have to do with messaging, delivery and audience.
"Often people know what they do but aren't sure how to explain it, much less how to get their message out and who to get it to," he said, adding he will be providing a "PR-101" video presentation link on his company's Facebook page prior to each live chat. The PR-101 piece will cover such topics as public relations tools and methodologies; what news is actually newsworthy; and how to supply media outlets with solid information that is useful to their readers, viewers or listeners.
Menzies said he chose to host the seminars on Facebook due to the business community's growing familiarity with the social networking tool in addition to the quality of its interactive features and applications. Many businesses promote "Facebook Fridays" to their workers to allow an hour of free time to decompress after a busy work week.
To participate in the Facebook Friday seminars, individuals need to signup for a free Facebook account and submit a Facebook request to be "friended" by Menzies Consulting. For more information email David Menzies at dmenzies@menziesconsulting.com.

"Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is an outstanding organization that many of us in the home building and real estate industries have been proud to be involved with," said TeamHomeBuyer.com founding partner Paul Murphy, adding, "Everyone volunteering with a group like Habitat finds the experience absolutely rewarding."
Utilizing green building techniques adopted from the U.S. Green Building Council, TeamHomeBuyer.com chooses to rehabilitate existing structures instead of razing homes and replacing them with new, out-of-scale structures. TeamHomeBuyer.com Selects MC for Re-Branding Campaign
(Raleigh, N.C.) The rapidly expanding Raleigh, NC - based real estate firm TeamHomeBuyer.com is overhauling its communication efforts with the help of independent public relations and marketing consultancy Menzies Consulting.
TeamHomeBuyer.com has built upon its successful history as an online resource for individuals to research ways to lease, buy, or sell a home quickly and conveniently to evolve into a growing operation of experienced real estate professionals actively rehabilitating existing homes in select metropolitan areas throughout Wake County, North Carolina. The team behind TeamHomeBuyer.com is engaging the services of Menzies Consulting to help re-brand the company and communicate its message to targeted audiences to achieve sales and organizational goals.
"We're experiencing a seismic shift in our business and need a trusted partner like Menzies Consulting to help us plan and execute our essential marketing and public relations functions so we can focus on our daily operations," said Paul Murphy, founding partner of TeamHomeBuyer.com.
"We don't have the internal resources to handle our communications workload, nor the time to hire for it. Menzies Consulting fits perfectly into our current business model," he added.
Menzies Consulting is providing a full suite of services, including a complete re-branding of the current TeamHomeBuyer.com website, logo, collateral materials, and overall public relations marketing and public relations plan, including messaging.

According to Murphy, community activists and members of neighborhood associations and city councils are championing TeamHomeBuyer.com's work, including their adherence to green-building and rehabilitation techniques.

(Apex, N.C.) Wake County's leading community revitalization real estate firm, TeamHomeBuyer.com, partnered with Menzies Consulting in building a float promoting Habitat for Humanity of Wake County in the December 1 Apex Jaycees Christmas Parade.
Sporting a full-sized Habitat for Humanity banner, the float featured a wooden "Santa's Workshop" built the day of the parade to represent Habitat's history of pulling together volunteers to construct homes for those in need.
"We wanted to put the skills of our two companies to good use for a worthy cause around the holidays," David Menzies, president of Menzies Consulting, said. "Publicizing a homebuilding nonprofit in front of thousands of our neighbors was a great fit."
Families of Menzies Consulting and TeamHomeBuyer.com staff pitched in to help construct, paint, decorate, and man the float in addition to distributing candy to parade watchers. The parade featured well over 100 organizations participating with floats and marchers and thousands of attendees along its route from the Apex Peakway through historic Salem Street in downtown Apex.
TeamHomeBuyer.com is committed to minimizing the use of resources, reducing harmful effects on the environment, and providing healthier environments for people.

One of the by-products of TeamHomeBuyer.com's rehabilitation success is outright community revitalization. As each of their homes rises from disrepair to affordable, sought-after real estate, owners of surrounding properties begin to take pride in their neighborhood and enter into home improvement projects themselves or, in many cases, utilize TeamHomeBuyer.com's real estate expertise to capitalize on the up tick in their property value to sell their existing home.
According to Murphy, community activists and members of neighborhood associations and city councils are championing TeamHomeBuyer.com's work, including their adherence to green-building and rehabilitation techniques.
"What we're doing is just such a win-win for everyone involved, we're absolutely thrilled to spread the word and have a hand in making a positive impact in the community," he said.
TeamHomeBuyer.com is currently involved with dozens of properties in the City of Raleigh and surrounding areas including Wake, Franklin, Chatham and Durham counties.
